Hiring an Upholstery Steam Cleaner

Keeping your Upholstery/Furniture Clean

Cleaning your upholstery keeps your fabric on your furniture looking brand new. In order to keep your furniture looking good you need to have your furniture professionally cleaned.

vacuuming your furniture is not enough to get the dust, grime out of your furniture. The dust that settles on your furniture usually carries dust mites and dust mites are hazardous to people with allergies and asthma. Healthy people don’t appreciate breathing in the dirt and dust either. Drinks
do get spilled at times on your furniture.

It is important to know not to let a stain sit for too long. If you let a stain sit you may not get as good a result.

Your furniture may not look like its brand new but, Professional cleaners know how to clean each type of fabric. It is important to know how to clean the fabrics because if you don’t and you try to do it yourself it risks color bleeding or shrinking.

The cleanest of people don’t realize that our bodies produce oils that comes off on our furniture. The oil on the furniture makes it dirty looking. People visiting your home/business won’t want to sit on
your furniture if it looks dirty. Getting your upholstery cleaned will make your furniture last longer. Furniture is very important and you should want to keep it looking its best.

Pets love to sit/lay on your furniture. When pets are on the furniture that makes more oil to get into the fabrics. Pets often also bring dirt in from the outside and that also gets into your furniture. Dirty furniture attracts dander from the pet. Dander gets removed by professional cleaning since it gets
deep into the fibers of the fabric.

Children also help to ruin our furniture. Markers, Food Stains, Dirt, etc… Professionally cleaning your furniture will help Restore its beauty and make it smell fresh again.

Every 2 years you should get your upholstery cleaned. When you get your upholstery cleaned they usually come in and pre-inspect the furniture fabric to see what material is used and determine how to clean it. Then they vacuum your furniture to get any loose dirt off. If there are any spots they will spray spot remover. Next your furniture upholstery is brushed to remove loose dirt. Depending on your fabric they will decide how to clean it whether its water extraction or dry foam cleaning or any other method the company may provide. They check for spots again and treat any remaining spots. Fabric protector is added next. This is a recommendation since the protector will protect your fabric from further stains, dirt. The protector will make liquids bead up on fabric instead of soaking into it. Last a neutralizer is applied. The fabric is brushed in one direction and this helps the drying process. Getting your furniture professionally cleaned is a great choice.

You spend so much money and time on your furniture. Cleaning your furniture is a healthy choice for your family and pets.

Best way to Clean your Carpets

Cleaning Your Carpets

Vacuuming your carpet removes most of the dirt, but it’s crucial to steam clean your carpet frequently to remove the oils and other dirt that builds up in the carpet. Every household should clean their carpets every 12 months depending on how many people live in the house and how much traffic goes on the carpet that is going to be cleaned. It is not true that if you clean your carpet too soon that it will attract dirt faster. It will be easier to clean your carpet before it gets to bad. Picking the right vacuum to use is very important. Some vacuums leave a residue, which will make the carpet dirty again and then the purpose of cleaning your carpet is defeated.

Hiring a carpet cleaner ...
It is a great idea to hire a carpet cleaner. Carpet cleaners are experienced and are professionals at cleaning carpets. They can do a lot better cleaning job then we could do. They have professional carpet cleaning equipment that has more power than any equipment available to us. Professionals know what cleaners to use based on the carpets fibers.

Cleaning the carpet yourself ...
If you decide to clean the carpet yourself and rent steam cleaning equipment, you should look at a variety of systems before choosing. Most systems that are available to rent don’t clean very well and may cause damage to your carpet. Please consider these tips:

 Some companies that rent equipment use cleaning equipment that the professionals use. The equipment should have enough power that the carpet can dry within 12 hours of the carpet being cleaned. Try to avoid the units that are available in retail/grocery stores. Those machines don’t have the power to do the work correctly and can cause damage to the carpet.

 Avoid over wetting the carpet, it can lead to mildew and bacteria growth, it can also cause the back of the carpet to separate. Problems can occur if your carpet stays wet for too long. Using the proper equipment and being trained on how to clean your carpet can diminish these problems.

 There are special cleaning products to be used on carpets that are treated with stain resistant treatments. If you do not use the right cleaner the resistance will be ruined and void the warranty of your carpet. Never use cleaners with bleach or any silicone based treatments on your carpet. Use several fans to help lessen the drying time. Dehumidifiers will also help by pulling the moisture from the air.

 Using hot water extraction ...
One of the best methods to use is hot water extraction. This method is also known as steam cleaning. This consists of spraying a water and detergent solution into the pile and then vacuuming over it putting the water and soil into a holding tank. There are truck mounted systems and portable systems available. Portable systems are the best for dirty carpets or carpets that got stained by pets that you haven’t gotten
around to cleaning yet.

Maintaining Carpets Clean After a Pet Urine Accident

Tips on Cleaning Carpets From Pet Urine

If you own pets you know how much work they are. Having a pet is just
like having a full time job. Pets require feeding, bathing, and exercising. Just
like taking care of your pets you also need to make sure you take care of
your carpeting.

Pets add additional traffic to your carpet and that can ruin the appearance of
your carpet. We know how to wipe our feet after being outside before
stepping onto the carpet but our pets do not. We know pets don’t know any
better so of course they will be messy.
Here are some tips on how your carpet can stay clean even with pets in your
house.

1. Please vacuum at least three times a week. It is a great way to remove
pet hair and keep the dirt from getting into the fibers.

2. When you have pets in the house it is likely that an accident will
occur. If your pet has an accident it is important to clean it up right
away. If you clean up the mess right away it is more likely you will
remove the whole stain leaving your carpet smelling fresh. If your pet
left a urine mess it is imperative that you start by soaking up the urine
with either towels or a wet vac. If you start with towels make sure to
push hard on the top of towel to make sure the urine gets absorbed.

3.You can use three parts warm water and one part vinegar after the
urine is removed from the carpet. Use a clean cloth and apply the
solution to the spot. You can cause further damage to the carpet if you
over saturate the carpet so be careful. Never rub a stain in the carpet.
Using clean water, rinse the spot off then use a wet vac or another
towel to dry.

4. Another cleaner you can use is baking soda. Baking soda
can help if there is still an odor in the carpet. On the spot put some
baking soda down and let it sit for a bit then vacuum it up. If you
have a dog they tend to have sensitive noses. So you need to remove
the entire odor from the carpet.

5. To remove the entire smell you need to dust your carpets with baking soda regularly. It is important to do this if you have a dog in your house that isn’t use to your carpet.
It is important to housebreak your pets. Pets will have accidents at first. If
you clean them up right away it can prevent further accidents.

6. There are some sprays that have scents that dogs do not like and these are sold in
pet stores and you can spray this on the carpet and it will work as a
repellent to keep the dog from having an accident on the carpet.

Best Reasons to Choose Carpet Flooring for your Home

Carpet Flooring is #1 Choice For Homes

Carpet is a very popular option for flooring. It is the most practical and
fashionable flooring option. It has many advantages. Carpeting offers
warmth in whichever room you put it in and whichever room you would like
warmth under your feet. It insulates which can help energy efficiency.

Carpet is safer since you don’t slip on it. This is important for children and
the elderly. In apartments it is helpful that carpet helps to make it quieter
when you walk around because it reduces sound. It is good at hiding any
flaws your floor may have. Carpet is not hard to care for. It doesn’t matter
what you spill because there is always a way to clean it up. Having carpet
can improve air quality. You can use carpet in other places then on the floor,
which makes it very flexible. You can put it on the stairs or posts. Carpet
doesn’t cost to expensive. However, it is very important to make sure you
maintain your carpet.

Maintaining your carpet is crucial. If you don’t it can be a health hazard.
Carpets hold odors and bacteria so if you don’t clean the carpet regularly
you can get sick. Some ideas that may keep your carpet longer are putting a
mat on your carpet under rolling chairs. Put padding under your carpet.
Putting padding under your carpet helps with noise reduction You should
vacuum your carpet regularly and use the brush attachment to get debris off
from deep inside the carpet. A wet/dry vac helps to clean your carpet. It
cleans a stain without spreading it around your carpet. You and your
children and pets lay on the carpet so you should do your best to keep it
cleaned. If you happen to spill something on it please make sure you clean it
promptly and remember not to rub a stain because it may push it further into
the fibers.

Another way to keep your carpet longer is to have your carpet professionally
cleaned once a year. Before you choose your carpet cleaning service it is
recommended that you do research on the company first and read customer
reviews. You don’t just want to hire the first company you see because they
may not be what they say they are. They may do a bad job and leave half
way through and leave you with a mess to clean up. When you find the right
company it is important to know that carpet cleaners are experienced and
will be able to know what cleaner to use for what carpet type. Getting your
carpet professionally cleaned will leave your carpet fresh and sanitized. The
professionals will vacuum first to get any loose debris. Then they use a high
suction vacuum to suck up any dirt that ended up in the bottom of the carpet.
The cleaners will neutralize your carpet ,which helps it from getting stained.
Then they inspect again to make sure your carpet looks good as new.

Your carpet is a big part of your life. You walk/sit on it everyday and it is
important to keep it clean for your families health.

Keeping your expensive rugs clean and using them wisley

Chicago has some expensive wool rugs they need to be used properly

This is great information I found on area rugs and using them wisely in your home

Area rugs are a powerful tool to changing the look of your room or adding the finishing touches. No matter how small your budget is you are certain to be able to afford an area rug. They are affordable and available and carpet dealers and department stores. The variety is endless and you are certain to find the right area rug for the job. Here are 6 ways to use an area rug in your home.

rug maintenance in chicago

1. Save Carpet In Children's Room

Kids can be hard on their carpet in their rooms and carpet is so expensive to replace. Using an area rug you can accomplish a few things. You can save wear and tear and staining of the carpet. You can add extra cushioning to the floor area keeping it warmer and comfortable. And you can let the kids have some fun and participate in decorating their room. You can even choose a theme and give their entire room a new look.

2. Accent On Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors have made a big comeback in the past few years. And they are beautiful! But too much can be a bit overwhelming, and they don't retain any heat so in the cooler months you can find your footsies getting chilly. Using an area rug in a large room such as a living room can add a beautiful focal point to the room and accentuate your hardwood floors even more. It will also keep the floor warmer and cozier. Because there are so many types of areas to choose from you won't have any problem finding one that works. You can choose from Persian rugs, Oriental rugs, Southwestern rugs, traditional styles or contemporary styles.

3. Focal Point

Use an area rug to create a focal point in your room. A family room, rec room, games room, or living room are all excellent candidates for a focal point area rug. If you have a games room a rectangular rug beneath the pool table looks awesome. If you have a fireplace an area rug in front of the fireplace adds elegance and luxury and it's a comfy place to sit and enjoy the fire. Now an area rug has another benefit. It will save wear and tear on your carpet, especially if you place it in the high traffic areas. Choose something that stands out from your room decor or blends in. Your choice, let your creative juices flow.

4. Entrances

Most people think area rugs are too large for an entrance but they are available in the smaller sizes. So whether you have a grand entrance or a smaller entrance you should consider making a decor statement where people enter. You could place a beautiful oval braided rug at your entrance, or a bold rectangular rug. Make it blend or stand out. Your choice. An area rug at your entrance also has some function use as well. The worst thing for your carpets is oil, dirt, and sand. Even a clean pair of shoes will track particles onto the carpet. Using an area rug will help reduce what gets tracked because it will act as a catcher. If you have a tiled or linoleum entrance it will also keep it looking cleaner as the rug can pick up the dirt or mud off of shoes and it's easily cleaner up with a vacuum.

5. Cover Worn Carpet

We'll all face worn carpets at some point and lets face it carpet replacement is a big investment that we can't all afford. An affordable area rug is a perfect way to give your room an entire new look and disguise that worn rug. Most rugs wear in the middle of the room where they get the heavier traffic and the outer foot or two often still look relatively new. So buy a huge area rug that compliments the carpet already on the floor leaving just the outer edge that's less worn exposed. You'll be amazed at how different your room looks. Area rugs are also a good way to hide a damaged or stained area of carpet.

6. Renter Choices

If you are renting you certainly don't want to spend your money on carpets. Whether your carpets are worn or they just don't fit your decor you can give your apartment a facelift for a minimal amount of money. Then when you move you can roll up your area carpet and take it with you to your new home. There's no point in begging the landlord to change the carpets because unless they are totally shot chances are you won't get your wish. And even if you were willing to change them yourself your landlord might not approve but you'll get no arguments about putting down an area rug. In fact you don't even need permission. You can use one or more area rugs throughout your apartment to add your own personal touch and finish your home decor.

Area rugs are one of the most affordable and easiest ways to give a room a makeover or add a style or accent to a room. You can choose from round, oval, octagon, and square area rugs. Choose Persian, Oriental, Southwestern, Native American, Indian, Mexican, Traditional, Contemporary, or what ever other style you want. Your choices are truly endless.

I've listed 6 ways to use an area rug but there's many other ways to utilize an area rug. These 6 ways should get your creativity flowing on other ways you could use an area rug. So are you ready to give your room a makeover?
